You should create the CAMP record as soon as you know who will be taking the job. This will ensure that a computer account, e-mail address, payroll and HR documentation, keys etc. are ready and waiting for the new person when he or she arrives.

Before you enter a new CAMP record, please make sure this person hasn't worked here before when you do the initial search. You can check by putting a check box beside "(Include Inactive Accounts in search results)" under the search field.  If he/she has worked here before, then you must reactivate their account versus creating a new one. Creating a new one unnecessarily will cause a host of difficulties from HR to payroll to computer access.

When creating an account, it is important to enter as much information as possible. Please make sure that the person’s name is spelled correctly. Their computer account, e-mail address, payroll (or accounts payable) and HR files are all created under this name. When a new account request is missing important information, has spelling mistakes or the groups chosen are not as appropriate as they could be, the account takes longer to finalize due to the need for corrections after it's been created.

Once you've entered the record for a STAFF, it is in a pending state until HR approves it. That approval prompts the creation of a computer account. So, please make sure you allow a few days for the whole process to take place. Requesting the account a week ahead of their arrival is highly recommended.
