Voice Messaging

For your convenience and confidentiality, your workstation is equipped with a voice messaging system.

In order to access your voice mailboxes you will require an initial pin.

Your PIN

    • Your initial PIN is set to 123456
    • Follow voice messaging instructions to set a new pin

Please refer to the telephone/voice mail instructions included in your Departmental Orientation Package for more detailed information on recording outgoing messages, retrieving incoming messages and other features of your specific telephone.

To Access Your Voicemail

On campus - at your desk

  • Press the “Message” or “MSG” button
  • Enter your pin
  • Follow the prompts

On campus - from another phone

  • Dial 101
  • Press #
  • Enter your extension followed by #
  • Enter your pin
  • Follow the prompts

Off campus

  • Dial 250-391-2703
  • While voicemail announcement is playing press #
  • Enter your office extension when prompted and press #
  • Enter your Pin
  • Follow the prompts

For assistance press * while in the mail system.

Online - from on campus

Online - from off campus

  • Although not recommended, it is possible to listen to your voice messages over Sentinel using the SipXecs website through Firefox on Sentinel
  • Go to https://telecom-1.royalroads.ca:8443/sipxconfig
  • You will get a warning about a private connection. Click Advanced and then Proceed.
  • Enter your office extension
  • Enter your Pin
  • You can listen to your messages as well as change some options (change greeting to out of office).

Please note that if you do not see the "advanced" option, do the following in Firefox on Sentine:Although not recommended, it is possible to listen to your voice messages over Sentinel using the SipXecs website through Firefox on Sentinel

  • Go to the "website" about:config
  • Search for security.ssl3.dhe_rsa_aes_128_sha and set the value to false
  • Close Firefox and Re-open and then follow the instructions above to try again.
