Calls going directly to voice mail without ringing on the phone

(If two or more phones can answer one line, sometimes only one will ring & sometimes only the other will ring.  Sometimes neither will ring.  Sometimes, both will ring.  This is the same issue as "Calls going directly to voice mail without ringing on the phone")

The system is reliably taking messages, so check your inbox often for voice mail recordings.

If you are not receiving messages in your inbox, check the settings on your phone account using the web interface to make sure that you’ve selected “Email notification” and that your email address is correct. Here are some instructions for where to go to find those settings.

Inability to make calls from desk phones

We are aware of the issue.  Please see this Crossroads article for additional information.

Try these things:

  • Wait a few minutes. Because the problem is intermittent, the phone may behave normally after a few minutes.
  • Reboot the phone. This sometimes helps and sometimes does not.

I recorded my standard greeting, but a different greeting plays when people go to voicemail.

  • Whichever is the active greeting will play when someone calls.  Refer to the section on “Recording outgoing message” and select the desired greeting to be active.

I cannot make calls and my phone says not registered

  • Your phone needs to be restarted (rebooted) to re-establish its link to the system.
  • Follow these simple steps to re-boot your phone.
    1. Press the round button that is surrounded by the 4 arrow keys on the top right of the phone.
    2. Press the right arrow button 7 times to highlight “Reboot”
    3. Press the round button to start the reboot
    4. Watch the lights flash and the screen flash
    5. And that’s all! Once the phone finishes “Downloading XML phone book”, you are good to go.

The phone no longer shows (flashing red light) when a voice message has been left

  • Your phone needs to be restarted (rebooted) to re-establish its link to the system.

My phone has no dial tone

  • Try to test your phone using the red speaker icon button. If you get a dial tone, then you can use the phone in the meantime but contact the helpdesk.

I can’t use my phone and it says “Not Registered” when I try to use it

  • Contact the helpdesk and let them know what your IP address is on your phone. It will be a 10.10.xxx.xxx or 10.20.xxx.xxx and you can view it by pressing the up arrow key.
