Obtain a new Tiny in one computer and image normally but with the correct image.

Loading the OS

  • Obtain one of the USB imaging sticks and plug it in the computer.
  • Start computer and press F12 repeatedly until you get the Startup Device Menu.
  • Select under USB the first selection ( Likely Legacy something )
  • On the Task sequence window type “helpdesk” as the password
  • Select “Win7 Enterprise Bare and click next ( if not an option see Mark )
  • Remove the USB drive from the computer.
  • Computer will reboot a couple of times leave it alone to complete its set up.
  • Log in and change the name of the computer to L15D0XX-TVDisX
  • Start Active Directory User and Computer. Find the computer likely in the RRU\Computers\Staff\Managed\Rebootable OU and move to RRU\Computers\Staff\AIS\CSTT\TV-Displays.
  • Copy the 0-Display folder to the C drive of the computer from \\abersan-2\swrepository\CSIT\Xibo
  • Run the Xibo client install ( current version is 1.4.2 that we are running ( the client has to match the version of the server which is 1.4
  • Allow it to install in the default location.
  • Open c:\0-Display and run the pp2 file to update the registry
  • Open local users and create an account called xibo_user with password p3ac0ck11
    • The account can just be part of the user group. Doesn’t need admin rights
    • Open local users and create an account called xibo_admin with password p3ac0ck11
      • The account should be part of the local admin group.

Installing the Xibo client

 

Configuring computer to auto log on with local account

  • Open registry editor ( regedit )
  • Navigate down to the following location. HKEY_LOCAL_ MACHINE\software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.
  • Edit the following values ( you may need to create them first if they don’t exist (New String Value))
    • AutoAdminLogon change value data from 0 to 1
    • DefaultDomainName value data L15d0XX-TVDisX
    • DefaultUserName value data xibo_user
    • DefaultPassword values data XXXXXX
    • Restart the computer and it should auto log on with the xibo_user account.
    • Go to Start and then under All Programs find Xido Player folder. Click on the Xido client Option to open the configuration window.
    • On the General Tab set the following fields.
      • Server Address http://xodiac.royalroads.ca/xibo
      • Server Key rru-peacocks-plumage
      • Local Library Location c:\Users\xibo_user\Documents
      • The Interval for content 30
      • Check to Enable PowerPoint
      • Click save at the bottom
      • On the Register tab set the following
        • Server address should be http://xodiac.royalroads.ca/xibo/xmds.php if not go back and redo the in on the first tab.
        • Display Name L150XX-TVDisX
        • Click on the Register Button to send a register request to the sever.
        • Click save 
        • On the Advanced tab set the following
          • Duration for Empty Regions 10
          • Cursor Start Position Bottom Right
          • Uncheck Show Icon in Taskbar
          • Save and close

To remove the task bar

  • The TaskBar will want to remain ( or a thin white line ) when the computer has restarted to remove this a script is set to run after Xibo has started. The script will open a cmd window and close it. This changes the last open program to the cmd window and allows TaskBar to minimize correctly.
    • Right click on the taskbar and choose Properties
    • Check Auto-hide taskbar and then ok
  • Now set script to run, it is include in the 0-Display fold you copied at the start.
    • Go to start and type Group Policy and you should be give an option Edit Group Policy
    • Under User Configuration open Administrative Templates\system\login
    • In the right hand plain double click Run these programs at user login.

      • Select Enable and the click on the show button
      • Now under the value type the location on the script should be C:\0-digitalSign\pause2.vbs and click ok and ok then close the group policy editor.


Complete Registration on Server

  • Go the web page for the Xibo server http://zodiac.royalroads.ca/xibo/index.php?p=index
  • Log in using xibo_admin account password XXXXXX
  • Goto Display tab
  • Find the new Display listed and choose Edit from the list on the right.
  • At the bottom of that window on the right side it will say License with yes in the drop down just click the save button and the registration is complete.

Set the computer to Restart once a week

  • Go to start and type task to find and start the Task Scheduler.
  • Under actions click on Create Task
    • Type a name for the task Reboot would work nicely
    • On the Triggers tab select New
    • Select Weekly and check the box in front of Tuesday
    • In the Start window select next Tuesday and sometime around 5 am.
      • Click ok to save the settings
      • Select the Actions tab and then New
      • Now the Action will be Start program
      • Under Program/Script type or browse to the shutdown program should be in C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe
      • In the Add arguments type “–r  –t 00” ( minus r space minus t space 00 )
      • Then click ok and ok again and it should be set to restart after patch day.

Turn off Wireless and Bluetooth

  • Right Click on the Network connection Icon in the lower right of the taskbar and select Open Network and Sharing Centre
  • In the left pain Select Change Network Adapter Settings
  • Right click and select Disable on the Bluetooth and Wireless adapters.
  • Close the window.
